Ever been on a diet and restricted your food intake?
Many women think that restricting calories whilst on a 'diet' is the answer to losing weight. Well Lady Fitness Freak screams NO!!!
Restricting your calories will obviously make you lose weight. However this is very foolish and can leave you feeling drained, sluggish and can even cause illness.
Your body requires 1200 calories per day just for normal functions. This includes breathing, everyday movements, digesting food etc. If you restrict calories and do not consume this minimum required amount then you will cause yourself harm.
If exercising and restricting your calories your body will suffer even more and you will start to deplete your muscles after a certain amount of time - however no matter how hard you try you will not keep up this behaviour and when you do give up, you will gain all the weight you had lost back plus extra. This is because you have restricted your body therefore your body needs to replenish and does this by holding on to extra calories.
SO LETS DISCUSS THE CORRECT METHODS
After exercise it is vitally important to refuel your body. Protein is vitally important post workout for the aid of muscles. (Discussions about protein for women will follow in a future post so stay tuned).
However if you are simply not exercising but lowering your calories then do it the right way. Ensure you follow the correct daily guideline amounts for protein, carbohydrates, fats and sugars etc. If you want to control your weight by controlling what you eat then its time to get some scales and a clear mind.
Make up your calories with healthy fresh CLEAN food, such as
lean chicken breast compared to fried chicken. That way you can eat more for the same amount of calories and you won't feel like your on a diet at all.
Most importantly ensure your portion size is correct and know what's in your food. This is where the scales come in. Get weighing your food, know how many calories is in your freshly cooked chicken and rice or porridge in the morning. Noting down calories and keeping a record is the key to losing weight without getting on a treadmill. Do it sensibly and you will see results. However get to the gym at the same time and see GREATER results. BE A LADY FITNESS FREAK!!!
